2011 Transmission problems already?
To my surprise yesterday I jumped into my 2011 f150 xlt supercab with the 3.7 liter v6 and found myself in drive with no response. I through it back into park hoping that it was engaged properly then the problem persisted with a major clunk into gear. The problem persisted expecially from 1st to second gear (seems like the electronics hqve no idea when to shift), then the check engine light popped on. I would expect this from an older vehicle but obviously, with it being a 2011 with 9000kms on it I'm sure you can see my concern. So I called the dealer they told me that it wont be looked at till monday, cool right? Well considering I was planning on doing some drywall this weekend in my basement I figured I would get another truck as my rental, NOPE! The dealer decides that the only vehicles they rent out for service issues are fiestas. Is it just me or is this not rediculous? My brand new truck with 9000kms on it is not only already having issues with the transmission but they offer me a f'in fiesta to carry about my business. Anybody else hear of these problems with the 2011 transmission? Also, am I just being a whiny girl for being given a Fiesta putting a hamper on my renovation plans for this weekend? Any help would be greatly appreciated! It also feels good to vent to other f150 pwners out there that may have been through this

So what did they say was the problem? Are you having to keep bringing it in for repair? Did they even mention just replacing your transmission?

To be fair and balanced; keep in mind, there are many, many, of us out here in the total universe of '09 and up F-150 owners, who have never had an adverse issue with this A/T.

I really like this new 6-spd. with the economy and operational versatility it offers; vs. my previous 4 spd. A/T. I have 36K on my truck, an '09 (XLT-5.4) and it runs even better with each new mile driven.
Also keep in mind, that the more recent (and I will agree aggravating for those affected) issue was related to a defective part (fluid pump) supplied by a second-tier sub-component parts mfg./supplier to Ford. This is a large issue for any auto mfg co.; i.e., quality control over the millions of sub-components collectively for every part used in engines, transmissions, electronics, and even the trim of the vehicle, as supplied to the mfg. for use on the assembly line. Some of these sub-contract companies are domestic and some are not, which increases the complexity of the problem.
Again, not to diminish legitimate issues encountered by some owners; just to keep all in perspective.
