Default 2011 trans issue

I have a 2011 5.0 6 speed tranny. Going from 1st to 2nd it shakes, shifts hard, shimmys real bad. It doesnt do it when i am on the gas but when i am running through a parking lot or just coasting. I have taken it in 3 times and the dealer just says we reprogrammed it. That is the answer they get from ford. It is the tranny that memorizes your driving. It just happened the other day again, so this will be the fourth time in for the same issue. Is anyone having the same issue? Can someone give me a few pointers on what to do?

Thanks
Parker

I believe there were quite a few reports of this issue. Did you search the forum?

Some people got their tranny reflashed with the 2012 software and they said it solved it for them. Might want to search though.

The transmission is searching. That's what having so many gears does. Lol. But on a serious note, if they red lashed the PCM/TCM it will automatically flash to the latest file available for that vehicle. Does it shutter like a vibration at low speeds? We did have on that did that and it ended up being the transmission mount. We replaced it with the raptor mount and all solved. But this was for a shutter when leaving a dead stop. Lots of contact with hotline to fix it.

I have a 2012, and mine lurches real bad right after I start it, when it's warm out, I think it's more 2-3 though, but like yours, only if I'm just pooping along at parking lot speed or less. As soon as it warms up good, seems to stop. Doesn't seem to be as bad now that the weather is colder. 2 different Ford engineers called me about it, because I mentioned it on the customer satisfaction survey. The last guy said they were aware of it, and hoped to have a new flash out for it soon. He said that if it did it again when the weather warms back up, to go in and get it flashed. Both of them were really concerned, or at least acted that way.

It doesn't really bother me anymore, I know it's searching, but my wife thinks somethings really wrong with the transmission. I can make it go away by just applying a little more throttle.
