2011 Sunroof repair
#11
After several emails to Ford and a couple of calls back to service manager we have agreed to have it repaired for less than $250.00.
Still not happy with 250 but it is way better than the 1000 plus.

Well... the dealership has had my truck since Monday... still do not have it repaired. They are still waiting on some of the parts... Good grief. I could have order the parts myself and been done with it and forgotten by now...
My gut feeling is that when they do get the parts and I go to pick it up they will have messed up something else... either the seats will be damaged from taking them out or the headliner will have greasy finger prints on it... they will leave something loose and it will rattle or leak.... I just do not get a warm and fuzzy...

Blue_76 I feel your pain, I have a $50K 2010 Harley edition that just turned 40K miles. I have babied this truck and been religious about the maintenance, if I opened the moon roof 50 times that would be a surprise. Yesterday I had it tilted open on my way to work, when I hit the button to close it, it closed and then proceeded to slide open on it's own accord with a ratcheting, crunching and grinding noise like plastic breaking. I could not get it to close and turned around and called my job to tell them I had an emergency since we were expecting rain, I had no idea what the outcome would be but I wasn't going to just leave things as they were. When I got home I was able to get the moon roof closed with the help of my girl friend and I am never going to open it again. In the process I found a cheap plastic tab broken off on either side that had fallen off in the track. The moral of the story for me is when you buy an expensive vehicle and pay additional for luxury options unless you are a millionaire that trades their vehicle in every three years you are just paying extra for future headaches. I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable price to get it fixed if I felt confident in the quality of service but both dealerships within reasonable distance have screwed up both times I have been there, once with my truck transmission nightmare and once with a Lincoln thermostat housing they managed to destroy and would not repair after charging my girl friend $850 for a simple repair. Basically I am through buying new vehicles and will drive what I have and repair only what needs to be repaired for safe reliable operation. If you have a ton of cash and don't care because you either trade in or can afford the ridiculous repair costs you will eventually incur then you should enjoy your prosperity and live large, I am not poor but that's because I am not a sucker with the exception of buying the truck of my dreams 5 years ago that has given me plenty of trouble but that's more on my local dealerships than Ford in general but the quality of the parts in the moon roofs is obviously lacking.

Great thread
For anybody having this problem and are out of warranty, heres a how-to video detailing the repair process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4wW7fAFOlE
Synergic,
This video is exactly what I needed. Like an idiot I hit the moonroof open switch instead of the back glass and being winter the glass was frozen so it broke the track. Called the sunroof dr and they told me I was in the next day air range for ground ups shipping so that's another plus. Now all is put it in tomorrow!

Synergic are you still here???
i got the kit watched the video got it all replaced and installed and the window slides back and forth a few times then gets stuck in the back position?? Doesn't look like it's binding?? Took the headliner down and lossened the bolts and slid it back into place. Tried it a few more times and it's stuck again?? Wondering if you have had this problem and where I should start looking?? Weak motor? Binding? I didn't install the slides right?? The window also does not tilt??
