Default 2011 SCrew Platinum 4X4 or 2013 XLT SCrew 4X4

So finally took the wife to check out the 2013 F-150 Supercrew XLT 4X4 (sterling gray) I've been drooling over for the past month. She's like "whatever you want to do", etc. As we are leaving, we see a 2011 F-150 Platinum 4X4 (ingot silver) at the lot next to the Ford dealer. Man, she started going crazy over that thing. I do like both trucks, but the Platinum has over 33k on the clock. It appears to be well taken care of. They want $34899 for the 2011, and I could probably get the 2013 for around the same price, with rebates applied. Both trucks have the same drivetrain.

Opinions? I do like the 2013, since it has 7 miles as compared to 33k.

Oh that's a tricky one..What's your current truck's mileage? Drivetrain?

My current ride has almost 28k, 2WD and is the 4.6 V8 2 valve with the 4 speed automatic transmission. I'd love to keep my regular cab, but we have 2 kids and one on the way, so I will need the two extra doors soon.

If it were me I'd go for the Platinum. Same drivetrain plus a lot of extras with the only trade-off being 33K miles and two years seems like a no-brainer. There's no reason any '11 F-150 can't run for 200K+ miles if you keep up with the maintenance.

What motors in the two new ones? I'd probably go new if the XLT had lots of features..I dunno.

Both trucks have the 5.0 V8 engine. Still, I'm having a tough time deciding.

I would go for the Platinum especially if it's in good shape. Because the 2011 truck has already taken the depreciation hit just from driving off the dealership lot. If you buy new then YOU will get stuck with that hit. Then add to it all the extras you get with the Platinum and it will also hold it's value longer. You will never notice a performance difference between 7miles and 33k they are the exact same. At the end of the day it all boils down to which one would put a BIGGER smile on your face. Good Luck and congratulations on either one.

The platinum has all the bells and whistles with 3,000 left on the 36,000 mile warranty.
With the XLT you get a fresh start but minus the perks.
I'd probably go with the 2011. Check Edmunds.com to see how accurate the price is for your area.
Other thing to consider is the finance options and interest rates between new and used.

I forgot to mention that you should easily be able to get or purchase an extended bumper to bumper warranty if you choose the 2011 Platinum seeing that it's still within its factory 36,000 mile coverage. Just another thought. ;-)

I have a 2012 XLT 5.0 4x4, with towing/convenience/chrome packages, Honestly everytime i see a platinum, my heart jumps lol.. i love my XLT, but there is something about the platinum.. is such a beautiful truck. I too have a child on the way and ppl told me i should of gone with leather because its easier to CLEAN lol we'll see how the silver cloth holds up good luck, i dont think you'll be disappointed with either(depends on the kind of person you are) im not a big bells/whistles kind of guy.
