Default 2011 FX4 Navigation System

I just purchased a new 2011 FX4 EcoBoost SuperCrew with Sync and a 6 disc CD player. I would have liked to get an FX4 with a navigation system, however I could not find one within reason of my location that also had EcoBoost and a crew cab.

I know I can order the GPS display unit from a local Ford dealer, but I was wondering if anyone knows the approximate price they charge to purchase the part? Judging from my current configuration, I am under the impression I will have to buy the display unit, chassis cover, GPS antenna, and possibly different cilmate controls. I know the antenna is roughly $70 but the other parts I'm not so sure. Also I don't see any installation of these parts to be very difficult considering they are all in the same location and do not require any long wiring (GPS antenna sits under the dash above the display unit). Does anyone has any ideas, advice, or prior experience with this? Thanks in advance!

Are u set on keeping everything factory? If not, I would suggest u go with an aftermarket head unit. Dealers will charge u an arm and a leg for their parts. I'm guessing at LEAST $1000 for the head unit alone. However, if ur set on keeping everything factory, u should check out either tascaparts.com or the ford accessories website before u buy anything from the dealer.

The factory navigation is approximately a $2400.00 option. I understand if you order a truck without a factory navigation syste, the dealer can not install one.

First, congratulations on your new truck. As for navigation, I'm throwing out numbers from my head, so it's just a guess. I'm thinking you'll have a minimum of $4K invested by the time you're done. There are other solutions on this board utilizing GPS units from Garmin, TomTom, etc. Another option that I really like the looks of utilizes an iPad. Do a search on this board and see what your options are. I love my navigation, but I'm sure I wouldn't pay to have it retro-fitted.

Yes, I looked at fordparts.com and they list the head unit price as "call." I'll try to get a few quotes. I know I can order parts from the dealer I purchased my truck without having them install them, as I am doing this with a set of running boards. The only hindrance from me possibly doing installation myself would be whatever anti-theft system Ford might use which would require whatever sort of Ford specific reset code.
