Default 2011 Front Pads and Rotors

Just had to replace the pads and rotors on my 2011 EB at 25K miles. There was about 40% of the pad left. However, I had trouble with severe steering vibration under hard braking. It seems the OE pads and rotors, while large, are just sub-par. They cant stand up to braking this heaving vehicle. I will admit I drive slightly more aggressive and thus brake harder at times.

The old rotors even showed some cracks which I thought was strange.

Replaced them with HAWK LTS pads and SIGNATURE SERIES rotors which are said to have a high-carbon content. Hopefully this stuff is better than OE.

After "bed-in" procedure they are once again smooth and stop very well. Better than OE, not sure yet. They dont bite any different from what I can tell. Longevity wise - time will tell.

$225 for all the parts, shipping included. not bad. Cheaper than my old Land Rover and BMW.

I had a lot of brake dust so decided to look at mine, I only have 45,000 kms, about 30K miles. This is what the rears of both front rotors looked like. Pieces of poop!

Yeah the pad material will transfer onto the rotors giving you a vibration sensation. Lots of people on here claim its a warped rotor, when its not. I'm quickly aproaching 30k miles on my truck, and I've already done my brakes twice!! Haha!! So I'm getting really good at them. But...I used sub par auto zone brake pads, both times(1st set failed under warranty)...prob gonna have to do them again soon. I'll prob get the hawk pads like the OP.

I was having vibration when hard braking and the dealer turned the rotors and it stopped. I did it at 11,990 miles and 1 day before having it 1yr, which was just in time because they said after 12k miles or 1yr it wouldn't be covered under warranty. Thanks for the info on Hawk.

Not good news... I was flying along at 70MPH with a full load and 2700 miles on my 2011 and was not impressed with the braking ability. Ended up in the middle of an intersection and had to excuse myself and back up 10 ft to let folks by.

This ^^ many blame the rotors but its not the rotors. Ford uses a terrible pad material for their pads. Good call with the Hawk pads, Im running them on both my trucks and they are 1000X better than OEM.

I have the same problem, 2011 EB with 25K. I had leveled mine, put 35s on it, and rallied at the dunes twice. I suspected it was just my alignment, but i was having a crazy amount of vibration in the front end while braking. I thought the rotors were warped too, but the dealer just said the pads have about 20% life on them and the rotors are extremly rusted. I had them do the alignment and they quoted me $900 to do front pads and rotors and to turn down the rear rotors. I am a bit dissapointed that i am already replacing brakes at 25k though. figured they would last a little longer.

27,000 miles on mine and have hauled several loads and mine are great, they will throw you thru the windshield if you get on them too hard!

I will be looking at upgrading in the future though. lol

If you keep putting ford pads on it you will keep having the same issue, especially with oversize tires, not to mention $900 is an absolute rip off for brakes! I payed $400 for awesome Hawk pads and new rotors on all four corners and they can be swapped in your driveway in an hour.
