2011 Backup camera replacement
Camera problem solved in my 2011 by exercising the connector at the camera. Added silicone grease to the connection and used a clear marine RTV to repair the blue oval. Sanded prior to applying the adhesive. Been working ever since.
There is a connection for tailgate removal and another on driver side frame just behind the spare. Exercising those & adding silicone to those grease didn’t help me

Whilst i think about it, our gen is a bit of a rust bucket if given the chance - @Smartecosse I highly recommend heading over to Bilt Hamber and grabbing a few cans of Dynax S50 for the underside and inside the box section, but particularly up inside the cab corners at the rear. Whilst you're there, grab a can of ferrosol too, it's odd how connectors on this truck are a little weird, and per Barry's post, exercising, or unplugging and cleaning and re-plugging a few times does seem to help connections.
Whilst a new camera was likely your issue, there is a good chance it was just the removing and reconnecting that helped it out (if you hadn't already tried that)
