Current mileage is 68xxx. I first had it to the dealer for missing/rough running (no engine light on) while it was under 60k. And it's just been back and forth to them since. They have been unprofessional and haven't stopped the missing or given any explanation of what is causing it. What they HAVE done is cut the power down on the truck considerably (last update did that). The truck is NOT safe. I should be able to pull onto a highway and get to highway speed without fear of the truck shutting down.

I have used a UltraGauge in both my 2011 and now my 2014. It will chime when a pending code has come up. At 35,500 miles my truck started to go into limp mode when driving 80 mph and just shut down. Sometimes the check engine light would come and sometimes no light. But it always showed the pending code. Previously it had been flashed because of very poor mileage towing and bad shifting. Sometimes when starting an incline I would feel a slight jerk or miss. I had been doing a lot of traveling and wasn't able to get to the dealership till 38,000. I had written the code down so I knew what it was. The code and sorry don't remember what it was, Was for a defective throttle body. It was replaced under warranty and now have 48,000 miles with no issues at all. Gas mileage up while towing is better and when not towing. Don't feel the slight miss when on a incline either. I have to say for under $100 the UltraGauge is a great monitoring tool.

What baffles me is any other automobile on the road would have thrown a check engine code for much less than that.I have been o Ford guy all my life but if ford does not fix this truck it could be my last[/QUOTE]
I'm not sure how to fix the power drop if they won't put it back but my guess is this is an easy fix - with your mileage, it's most likely carbon tracking on the plugs and or boots. You may also have a bad coil pack. The problem is the test equipment they use won't show the problem because they don't test your truck the way you probably drive it. Their monitor doesn't pick up misses above 3,000 RPM and most likely you push your truck above that before it starts missing. When my truck started acting up - missing going up a hill - I took it in and got a call to stop by the dealership because they couldn't reproduce the problem. I stopped by and they put a monitor on the computer and we went out for a test drive. I went out, found a big hill, and told the tech to hang on. I gunned it going up the hill and it was obviously missing and he said nothing was showing up plus he said he would never drive customer truck like that. After gunning it a few times he was finally able to pick up a miss on #6. They won't fix anything if they don't get an error on the monitor. He admitted it doesn't easily pick up misses able 3,000 RPM. I had him replace all the plugs and boots - he was only going to replace #6 plus he found a bad coil pack and there was definite carbon tracking on at least that plug. It fixed the problem but it took me a while to get my confidence back in the truck - actually I never did 100% because I just traded it in on a 2015 5.0 - every little noise was making me nervous as it was out of warranty. With all the information out here I don't know why Ford won't put out a TSB to just change the plugs and boots - it would keep a lot of people happy and stop them from maybe moving to another brand.

I went to Advanced Auto and had a scanner check for codes and sure enough there is a miss fire on cylinder #3.I dont understand why I dont have a check engine on.

I have a rough idle, sustained whistling noise at half throttle, and occasional (cold or warm) timing issue that causes a jerking motion, but no engine light on.

Advance will scan for codes? I thought a proprietary scanner was required? That's how the service rep. at my local dealer explained it. Said it would cost me $100 for the check, which would be waved if a part covered by warranty is replaced.

Stopped at Advanced last night and had them check for me. He took his time checking so I'll assume he knew what he was looking at? No codes turned up. The man did acknowledge that he could feel the engine stumbling.
Really disappointed now that dealer wouldn't check without charging me $100 for what Advanced Auto did for free. I'm so fed up with the services I've received lately.
Had an alignment done in December at Tire Kingdom. Four months later and about 8k miles my front passenger tire is almost bald. The wear pattern is like a ramp. Like shown here on the left. Went back and asked them to check it. The tech said it was out, but when he rechecked it again he said it was ok. I asked why he got two different readings? He said he accidentally input the specs for Screw? Well needless to say they didn't rotate my tires on my lifetime tire rotation, didn't even offer despite the wear. Didn't address my leak in another tire. And rather than making reparations for my worn tire obviously caused by their faulty alignment, the shop manager instead berated me on the importance of rotating the tires every oil change! I was overdue but only about 2k. And the driver's side is not worn.
Took it to local dealer, re-aligned and rotated tires. Now my front shakes, wheel wobbles and is a few degrees off center. It tracks straight but if I hit the slightest bump, dip, or grove it will suddenly veer toward that direction.
My wifes car had alignment performed at Tires Plus with new tire purchase. It tracks straight also but constantly wonders left and right. We've owned it for 5 years and have never had this problem. You could let the wheel go and it would stay straight for as long as the road was.
