btw... a few people in this thread have said the gas mileage hasn't been better as it's gotten warmer. gas mileage is optimal at 59 deg F. something to keep in mind if you're interested.

While my shudder disappears at anything over about 45 degrees, my mileage is WAY better over 70 degrees than in the 50's and below. Only been over 70 degrees here a few times so far but seems the truck as a whole is much stronger at warmer temps. There has to be some sort of programming issue that is coming into play somewhere with this shudder issue, possibly either leading to several other component failures or vice versa. I know turbo engines are a little more susceptible to cold air as there is a larger volume being forced into the engine, but at 20 degrees I would get 15 mpg at 72 mph, at 70 degrees I can get a little over 20 mpg on the same stretch of road. A 25% decrease in mileage seems a little extreme due to cold temps and winter blended fuel.

Its been warm here and my shudder was gone, dealership performed TSB last week anyways. Tomorrow morning the lows are supposed to be in the upper 20's, gonna go test it on several hills.

Funny you ask about fuel!! Had the same idea...I'm presently running a tank of super premium, I will report back when I'm finished with this tank...so far, it seems to have improved the over all performance of the truck but, the juries still out...

I ran nothing but 92 or 93 octane for two months. Turbo lag decreased and I may have gotten 13.5 mpg on average instead of 12.5 mpg but other than that my truck still has issues (misfires between 30-40 mph and around 55 mph, poor gas mileage, rough shifts, etc). This was even after a reflash in January and the 12-2-10 TSB a month ago. I spoke with my customer service rep this morning and she said that the next "fix" for this problem will be due out mid-summer . I have been waiting since last August/September for this issue to be resolved. I have really procrastinated on having a lawsuit filed as I figured a fix would have been out by now. Unfortunately, a fix does not appear to be eminent so I will finally be signing off on the lawsuit paperwork Wednesday evening.

I realize you just recently joined into this conversation, but that potential fix was ruled out months ago.

As for the guy who wants a tranny fluid change - good luck. Yes, it may work, but it may not. If it doesn't work, which it probably won't, I may be out of a buy back or future warranty claims. I cannot stress enough - BY THE BOOK until fixed.

Exactly why I wont buy the livernois tuner even though the dealer cant tell if you turn it back to stock. I'm not touching anything until its fixed.

I experienced the shudder today @ around 35 mph. After a quick check, I noticed the truck was running in 5th gear and at about 1000 rpm. 2012 Eco XLT SCrew with 3.73 gearing (off road package). I fixed it easily though, by forcing the truck to think that 4th gear was top gear (hit - in D until the display in your instrument cluster reads 4 on the right hand side) and the problem was solved immediately. I get the distinct feeling that the transmission programming for the F150 is infantile...

I agree. I think ford needs to change the shift points in these things. No way should my truck be in 6th already at 40mph. It's as if ford is relying solely on the turbos to do the work at that point.

My shudder is very mild after the tsb. But like you saw, it's less about the speed, and more about the load and rpm. I could make mine do it in 3,4,5,6 gears. In 3 you had to be on like a 10 or 12 percent grade, but it would do it. I don't think I've tried after the tsb....I am one of the lucky ones that it worked good for and is still working fine. I'll still be calling the dealership the second a final fix comes out.....if it ever does!!

Subscribed. Don't have a problem yet, but want to be aware if I do feel something.

I just started experiencing it noticeably with 4200 miles. Just made an appointment at the dealer to get it checked out.

Pretty bummed out about it. I got rid of a Tacoma I had all kinds of issues with and thought I upgraded to a big beautiful F-150. My thinking is Ford has to come out with a fix for this. It can't be ignored...
