Default 2011 5.0 kn filter

I was giving a kn air filter for free and was wondering if it's okay to put it in my truck? Won't harm anything in the long run?

A buddy of mine has the k&n cold air kit on his 2011 f150 5.0 for a couple of years now . He has had no issues and he drives from kansas to south dakota quite frequently.

It's crap. Sell it to some other unsuspecting fool

No more perf, AND less effective filtration. We use them on Ladas... and well... y'all know how chitty those are, lol.

Clean it and install it. Clean out the intake tube if its dirty. After running it for a month check the intake tube. Wipe your finger in it. If its dirty then you know stuff is getting by the filter.

Exclamation

  • increases the likelihood of oil contaminating the MAF sensor. *Over time even minute oil contamination decreases power and MPG. When it's REALLY EXCESSIVE it will be intuitively obvious.
    .
  • any increase in CFM comes at the expense of filtration.
    .
  • cleaning is a PITA. *And, Yes, I've done it on MAS equipped vehicles.
    .
  • Motorcraft, OEM air filters ...
    • meets|exceeds engine air intake CFM requirements.
    • good for 30,000+ miles (depending upon conditions).
    • ABSOLUTELY NO possibility of MAF sensor oil contamination.
    • dispose and replace maintenance.
.
AND ... Nothing is *FREE*.

gDMJoe is right. There is no benefit to running the K&N.
