Default 2010 Transmission Problems

Six speed transmission is doing hard shift from 2nd to 1st gear. This is NOT a normal hard shift but almost like the trans has a hard time finding the gear. You can not only feel it but you can also hear it. Always happens when coasting to a stoplight and applying light pressure on the brakes. Oh and the issue is when the truck is warm, not when it's cold. Seriously sounds like the trans is going to fall out. Also noticed that is sometimes shifts hard from 1st to 2nd but no "clucking" like it does when it downshifts.

I have had the rear end greased and the transmission re-programmed twice, so it's been in the shop for a total of three times. So far I get the same ol same ol from service. Has anyone out there experienced the same issue and actually found a resolution to the problem? It is exteremly annoying and not what I expect from a $41,000 truck. ANY help would be greatly appreciated

I had a new TSB applied to mine for the exact same issue. They said it was something about taking slack out of the transmission, if I recall. I do remember taking slack out of something for sure, I'll lookup the receipt when I get to work tomorrow to find the TSB number.

Thanks for the post!

Update, just go off the phone with Ford. They are now going to replace the drive shaft. At least I am making progress Not sure how replacing the drive shaft is going to fix it but if it doesn't I might be getting in touch with the BBB and filing for a Lemon Law. Love the truck, just don't need the headaches.

Had a similar issue with mine. I would describe it more as a "bucking" at take off from a stop and then a "thunking" from 2nd to 1st while stopping. Turns out the driveshaft slip sleeve needed to be lubricated. Mines an S-Crew with only 5k on it. Don't rush the lemon law, it could be a simple fix and the next truck could be worse.

I guess Ford rep was confused, no new drive shaft I am now waiting to hear from a "dedicated rep" who will work my case.

Just to clarify, I've already had the yoke greased and the transmission re-programed (twice) and still the problem persists.

I just posted this on a similar thread. I have the EXACT same problem, but like I said in the other post, thought it was my programmer. When it happens, there is no slip but more of a hard bump and then the deceleration bump when brakes lightly applied it's usually around 25-30 mph ...

mine seems to "jutter" on hard acceleration...like it is hunting or something...then there is the large hesitation then dump, it has be programmed once already..not certain on what to do..i do think its crap to pay for such a nice truck ($$$) and have it act like this..my AC does not blow cold either, they apparently fixed that but still does not work properly...i will keep taking it back I guess... sigh.

i do also have the hard shifts...i mean seriously..how long have automatic transmissions been around..?

I had the same problem, mine was a rough upshift from 1st to 2nd.

Took it in under warranty. They re-torqued it or whatever. And it drives so smooth now.

Mine has the same 2nd to 1st issue. When lightly breaking from 40 or less my trans slams just before I come to a stop. She's getting worse too, I'm taking her into the shop when I return from work.

Update again....loooong sigh.

Ok so Dealer was confused, I guess they are replacing the drive shaft with a new one. Still do not know how this is going to fix the issue but I am going to give it a shot. I will post in a couple weeks as I'm waiting for the part to arrive, then will need to drive it to see if it happens again.

Again if anyone has had this fixed other than the grease and re-program PLEASE let me know.
