2010 Trailer Brake Controller
I have a 2010 Ford F-150 STX 4x4 build date 06/09 and bought a used OEM Trailer Brake Controller with display from Ebay, I installed it my self and had it programmed/unlocked at my local Ford Dealer. All the lights work and when you press it manually it does say NO TRAILER CONNECTED. So I thought it was fine. When I got home I pressed the trailer gain and I could only increase gain not decrease it. So now my controller is set to 10. Is this a controller issue, programming issue or do you need a trailer connected to against the gain setting. PS I haven't tested this on a trailer yet... My whole reason for doing this is because we bought a new camper and needed to have a controller to tow it home. Please Help!!!
Sorry I can't exactly answer because my truck doesn't have a TBC, but do you have a friend or neighbor with camper/boat etc, with electric brakes, that you could do a test plug in. Maybe even go to a sales lot.
@Sodad2 What year or part number TBC did you buy? There's several different TBCs out there for 12th gens that all look the same. 2009-early 2010, late 2010, and 11-14 and they are not interchangeable.
To answer 2008__XL's question, all 12th gen TBCs are discontinued from Ford.
