Unhappy 2010 dash lights not on during daylight

the service manual states that the dash lights should be on full during daylight. They are not. The dimmer switch calibration has been done. I took it to the ford dealership and spoke directly to the ford dealer rep. He had no answer but did show me in the service manual they should be on. Using the headlight switch no dash lights at any setting. Any suggestion anyone????

assuming it's under warranty ...

1. take it back to the dealer again and tell them to get it fixed.

2. if you don't trust the dealer you already took it to, take it to a different dealer who knows how to fix it.

Default dash lights not coming on during daylight

I took it to the dealer and posted my concern to ford of canada in a letter. They responded back that all 2010's do this and its normal. Has anyone ever had their 2010 f150 lights corrected.

Mine would be off during the day and when it got dark they turned on. I ran it in the auto position. And the sensor is on the dash I did notice once that I covered it up by accident and the lights inside and out stayed on

My 2010 is the same. On the dash in front of the center tray is a small sensor. Cover it up and the dash lights come on.

Are you using the automatic headlights? I keep my headlights in the auto setting and the dash lights will pop on when I go under a dark overpass.

Thanks for your feedback. The instrument gauges are hard to see under certain daylight conditions. The fact remains is that the service shop manual states the dash lights should be on during daytime running when the sensor is not covered. The ford rep showed me this on his laptop and subsequently I sent of an email to ford of canada. I would like to get a copy of the shop manual if anyone could direct me to a free site.

2009 and 10 trucks have always done that. There are some inconsistencies in the early manuals as well. Cover up the little square dome in the middle of the dash down by the windshield, and your lights will be on.

Mine does this also. There are even times when the headlights are on that the dash lights are not on in the auto position like when the wipers are on.

Default 2010 F-150 Dash Lights

I'm getting close to 76....eyes not so good under some conditions. Makes it very difficult to see my dash instruments in the daytime without the cluster lights. So I covered the light sensor on the dash with a piece of black duct tape about 2" square, and Voila! the instrument cluster lights come on in the daytime.
