Default 2010 Brake Question

Can the front rotors on a 2010 F150 be "turned" or "shaved" or do they have to be replaced. I have a little bit of a vibration when braking and with every other vehicle I've owned I just had the rotors turned to correct this, but someone told me that they might not be able to turn them. Any thoughts?

on 2 wheel drive trucks, the front rotors are permanently fixed to the hub and the entire hub has to be replaced when it's time for new rotors. unless this changed for the 09+ but I know it was the case on 08. 4wd has your typical removable rotors which can be turned.

do they have a machine that can turn them without taking them off the vehicle? I forget those exist sometimes, but that's the only way I could see it being done

Yeah, they use it all the time. I'll get a pic of it if I can

This is different on the 09+. No more one piece hub.

I have some vibration when braking as well. I had my rotors shaved a while back because the truck had been sitting in my driveway for so long that I guess the rust that formed on the rotors was so much that it was causing this vibration.

But lately I've been using the truck a lot more frequently and I've been noticing the vibration is back.

Is it possible that although I've been driving the truck more frequently it still has developed enough of this rust on the rotors to cause this issue?

I have a 2012 FX4

Sounds like pad material transfer to me. Hugely common, and hugely mistaken for warped rotors

Thanks for the info. What causes pad material transfer? And can it be avoided ?
