Yup, don't get me wrong - under normal conditions they are really nice, very handy and they operate with a really good action... but its inevitable given their location that the mechanics of it get wet / full of slush off the road and then freeze up pretty easily.

I don't know if you could cobble together some solution to mount a screw running board under a scab to create the permanent step...?!
(sorry don't remember if you had a scab or screw)

Cambo: no, I didn't mention mine, thx for asking that (I made a sig w/ the info). Mine is a supercab, 6.5" box, so the wheelbase is the same as my mom's screw, 5.5" box, so I'm guessing they use the same frame for both...

that is an awesome suggestion! I will measure my mom's to see how long they are to kinda guess where they would come out at.

I ordered the driver's side step today from northcentralford.com - $240+ Shipping.

I'll see how this works out before ordering the passenger side.

Good price. You will find the step useful. At first it will stick out (not literally) and seem out of place because there used to be nothing there and you wonder about ground clearance or someone says it to you. Then soon, you will not notice it.

I ordered, received, and installed the drivers side step. Easy to install and works great! I ordered the passenger side today.

$240 + $32.50 shipping from www.fordpartscentral.net - Great place to do business with.

YES, any snow, ice, or slush they get frozen and will not open, untill you kick on it enough to get the ice/snow to break loose!!!!! As a matter of fact that happened this A.M.!!

Yeah! Just don't kick too regularly... I think one of the black plastic caps on my side steps may have started to work loose due to all my 'encouragement' on frosty mornings

That's what you get for being too lazy to go inside for some warm water...
