2010 6 speed tranny
#11
OK here is my 2 cents. The 6 speed auto in my 2010 F150 shifts JUST like the 6 speed auto in my 06 VW. When I first got the VW a few years ago it drove me crazy. How is that you say.
Well lets say you pull up to the stop sign and you do not come to a 100 % complete stop or stop for just a nano second. When you give it gas to continue on, it stumples. Like it is still in second then goes to first and then back to second all very fast.
My VW on the road is just like the F150 in that it shifts a lot looking for the perfect gear.
I think we all agree that the main purpose of the ever increasing # of gears is fuel economy and getting the most performance possible ( some now even have 8 speed autos). So I believe these close ratio transmissions are designed to shift to try to get as many MPG as possible.
I believe that at times the transmission just does not know what gear YOU want it to be in.
Once I decided not to worry about my VW transmission I have put 110,000 trouble free miles on it.
I plan on doing the same with my F150. AND I love my 43- 45 MPG VW diesel Jetta and I love MY F150.
Are either perfect he!! no but is any vehicle?

No problems here after the TSB update. Truck shifts smooth and it has been over 2k miles since the update.
FWIW, I just came out of a 2003 Honda Accord v6 and had the tranny replaced 3x! I bought the 100k mile warranty and glad I did, I also learned that the NTHSB site listed 100's of thousands of compliants regarding this tranny and Honda did bandaid fixes and refused to state that it was a poorly designed tranny.
All vehicles have issues even my 1987 Ford Bronco amongst many others I have owned (52yo ) had one issue or another. If you like the vehicle and want to buy it but are concerned then buy the Ford ESP Premium 72month/100k Mile warranty to cover you and anything that may arise.

I also wonder the same thing,
Just last night while watching TV there was a lawyer asking people that have been injured in their Toyota or Lexis to just CALL ME.

Ok; i'm not sure if you are dontrowell or jbuck or who you are. I would love to see some pics of your truck though. As far as the transmission goes. It has to learn your driving habits. After reading your post; i don't believe the Ford transmission can learn a thing from you!

Just to add my 2 cents. I have a 2010 STX 2wd with the 2 valve and 4 speed and love it. My other truck is an 04 Dodge Ram 1500 SXT standard cab 2wd with the 4.7 and 5 speed auto. The transmission in the dodge has had a harsh 1-2 or 2-3 shift when cold from day 1. It now has 70k miles on it and not a single trans. problem.
The shift is so hard at times I can hear the rear end "clang". Never a rear end problem either. This is probably just from cold fluid and high line pressure. The last time it was serviced (every 30K) the pan was clean as a wistle. My point is it's under waranty, don't sweat it! If it develops some other problems then take in in.
