Default 2009 starting to rust - which options to take?

Hi all,

I noticed my truck was starting to rust at the frame awhile ago - but it seemed to be contained. Only recently I now noticed how much it has spread up to the bottom between the cab and bed connection (but only on the cabin side - see picture below). I'm hoping to have this fixed - to help stop it from spreading. Do you think it would be efficient to have an auto body place just fix and repaint those areas - or am I just wasting money - and this will reappear in no time - likely other areas. Is the damage already done?

Are other higher year owners noticing their pickups rusting in this location? The same is occurring on both sides of the truck, and in the same spots - so I'm wondering if this is a known areas for these trucks.

<<picture coming>>

Thanks all - I really have taken care of cleaning, washing, but I guess this may not have been preventable. I just don't want to drop good money if this will return.

No pic yet but it is a very common issue to see rust in the rockers and cab corners

New cab corners are the fix for this.
