2009 Platnium sync update issues

2009 Platnium sync update issues
Hello everyone,
Any help will greatly be appreciated.
I took my platinum into the dealership yesterday to get my sync updated cause I just got the truck a week ago in a trade. I signed up to the syncmyride site and it showed that it had not been updated since 2009. And that I had a update but needed a dealership to install.
Well to make a long story short. I talked with the tech he hooked it up to the vcm they have and it could not communicate with the sync. He said that there might be a issues with the Anim or the Fnim (modules) they are telling me these are common problems with the sync with navigation in the 2010 or newer F150's because they have the screen at the dash and the modules in other places. But apparently with mine being one of the first years that they had it it is all behind the touch screen. But when they looked up on Oasis to find the part it is not avalibe to buy. And says there is no part available.
Yet we go out to the parts department they said they find it and wants to charge me 575 dollars for a part that is not supposed to be available for my truck. Well here's the deal I am not having any problems with my sync or navagations and according to this tech if those problems were to really be the problem all that he has worked on either something wouldn't work or the screen would go black and I am not having any of these issues. Is there a way around the dealership to get this update cause no one seems to know what the issues is or a way around it. It seemed to me they were just guessing and trying to throw parts at it to see if it worked. I got alot of well its the first year model and we dont have problems much with them so were not really sure so is the update even worth it if everything works OK?
