Perspective.

I for one will be adding HIDs high, low and fog this weekend. However I will have the installer aim them so they do not blind on comming traffic as much. I travel mostly dark rig roads in the middle of no where , working in south texas in the oil field. Its the only way to get the light I need without mounting several lights to the front of my brand new truck. I wish those LED light bars didnt cost a thousand dollars, I would get them too.

The blue coating on the bulb definitely makes the light appear whiter, but they are NOT brighter - in fact I know they put out less light than the factory SYLVANIA bulbs did.

So... threads that discuss the HID's - I opted against this as I hate meeting you guys that stick HID kits in reflector headlights that were not designed for them - they are BLINDING. Sure you think you are cool, but you are illegal!

Now there are a few threads discussing the projector headlights that are off ebay - they look alright, but is the light output any better? Our Honda Element had projectors and the light output was dismal.

What is the most cost effective way to get MORE light that will not blind oncoming traffic, and is NOT illegal?

Lets get a discussion going here. Someone from FORD please take notice - in my opinion this is a huge safety issue. Driving at night, in the rain, on new blacktop - the factory headlights are a HUGE failure.

YES !! it's really annoying to see people with HID kits in reflector housing. The threads about after marker projector headlights are a poor choice as well. These types of projectors are fog projectors. Which displaces that light into a uneven pattern, just like a fog lights.

If you want the same perfomance from your headlights as any Acura, BMW, or any high end vehicle, I suggest you retrofit your headlights. To help describe the type of output I'm talking about, think of your classroom projector and how it projects light with a perfect cutoff to make a perfect square of light on to the wall. The same goes with these real projector headlights. Take a look at the following link, notice the light cut off.

The following link is a great website to retrofit your headlights. There's do it your own tutorials, or they can retrofit for you. Retrofitting is taking the same OEM projectors from any highend vehicle headlights, and installing them into your headlight housing. These retrofit's are universal to any vehcile since your just taking the projectors, and installing them in your own headlights housing. You can email them with any questions about your retrofit project.

My brother is currently working on my 2010 F-150 headlights. He will be installing Acura TL projectors in to my headlights. Acura TL projectors are considered to be the best Bi-Xenon (low and high beam) projectors ever made. And for my foglights I will be retrofitting Acura TSX's projectors. TSX projectors are considered the 2nd best single beam projector, next to the Honda S2000. I would get S2000 projectors but too expensive and there for my fog lights anyways.

If your interested in pics of my retrofit project for My F-150, please message.

Retrofit is customizing your headlights for maximum performance, to help you see more clearly and further at night, gives your vehicle a great unique look, and with OUT BLINDING ONCOMING TRAFFIC!!!!

sorry for my poor grammer and spelling mistakes. lol.

I have HIDs in the stock housings and love them. I agree they can be blinding but i aimed them down a bit to prevet this. I have been in a car imfront of my truck and they are no more blinding than a bmw's projectors. Also it is not illegal in Alberta to have HIDs in stock housings. I got them bc i spend most of my time on secondary highways that see little traffic. But to each his own. Everyone at the Heavy Duty shop i work at runs them and love them.
