That ridiculous. Did you know that you can go to a customs office and prepay any duty/brokerage fee. Trust me when I say it's a FRACTION of what UPS charges. And they have to deliver the parcel upon proof of duty payment.
I had to fight with them last year over my rigid light bar. They tried getting $150 out of me. Cost me $25 at a CBSA office down town. Freaking thrives.

So it disables the system when the hood is open so if a mechanic is working on it and you press the start button he won't lose his hands.

For what its worth most aftermarket systems are plug and play also and have much better range and more features than factory, such as the ability to press the start button while is running with the key on and have it take over so you can remove the key and lock the doors and have it remain running. A very useful feature I use quite frequently.

I loved that feature on my aftermarket starter that I installed on my old GMC. Its great if you drive somewhere and want to go in the store for a second and leave it running, without the risk of someone jumping in and taking off with your truck.
