Default 20" to 17"

My 09 Lariat came with 20" Chrome clad wheels and they are not exactly what I dream about when it comes to wheels on a truck. I like to not have to owrry about the curb when parking and going over them is part of the fun owning a truck. When these tires are toast I plan on going down in size. Will this mess with anything from a spedo stand point or performance, MPG? Would think I could go 17" and get 70 series tires and still be close to the original dimater. Thoughts of those who know more?

As long as you stay close to the original tire diameter, you'll be fine. I think tire rack has a menu that will do it for you.

If you decide to go up or down in diameter, you can recalibrate your speedo with a tuner.

I 2nd - as long as you try to stay with same overall tire diameter you will be fine.

One thing to note on 17"s, I am nto sure if the factorty offers 17"s, if they do not you may need to be careful that the wheels do nto rub the brake calipers or anything else since the wheels will be so small and everything has such tight tolernaces these days.

On another note, if you want stock 18"s, look me up in two months, I ordered a new truck and may buy new wheels and tires, therefore the stock 18"s will be for sale, wheels and tires.

Looks like 18" would be the ticket. (275/65-18 keep the Dia close per Tire Rack) I like more rubber than tire on a truck...IMO only! Shoot me a picture of your OEM rims GATORB8 and we will see. It's a real possibility!

I tend to lean simple with wheels, especially on a daily driver. Look good and be easy to clean are my key points.

I would like to be 2nd in line for dbok's wheels if 09bluejay decides he doesn't want them. I also didn't want the 20's, but that's what my truck had on it for the negotiated price.

As a side note - the tire pressure sensors should be the same for either wheel, correct?

I am interested in buying the factory 20" chrome clad wheels if anyone's selling. I got a 2010 FX4 with 600 miles on it. Would be willing to trade for 20s and send a lol cash your way too. Sorry didn't mean to thread jack

You'll be fine, the brake calipers will clear 17s. I went down to 17's and upped the tire size for an overall diamter very close to stock. Much beefier appearance with the taller side wall. Trust me, curbs don't bother me at all!
