OK, I used the programmer to adjust tire size (revolutions per mile) and it definitely affects the navigation.
I have 275/60/20 (about 1 inch taller than stock) tires so that equates to 611 revs per mile. Well the programmer only has choices in increments of 5 so it has 610 and 615.
First, I tried 610 revs per mile and the navigation thinks that I am travelling faster than I actually am (it places the icon further ahead on the map than I actually am). The error is enough that if you turn after moving along a straight road for over 4-5 miles the nav will be lost.
No problem, I changed it to 615 revs per mile. The navigation system then thinks I am travelling slower than I actually am and the icon falls behind on the map!! The amount of error is slightly less than the 610 revs per mile setting.
WTF Ford? First off, why does the stupid dead reckoning override the freaking GPS signal to begin with? It should only augment when there is a loss of signal. And furthermore why is the thing so damn sensitive? I mean a tire will actually wear around a half inch or better over the course of it's lifetime and my testing has shown that that will screw your position up on the navigation.
I HAVE TO believe that once Ford gets a handle on how ridiculous this is they will issue a program update to drastically reduce the effects of the ridiculous dead reckoning. THEY BETTER, the engineer that designed this system needs to be gut punched.

On another note, I believe you guys that say it is screwing up the Nav but why the heck is the Nav using the speedo? It should be using the GPS unless there is a loss of signal. That is F'ed up!
