Default 2.5" lvl kit - please help..

Hey - totally frustrated here. All my freaking truck mods have gone to pot and I don't know why... First my retro fit HIDs now my lvl kit giving major issues...

I have a 2013 f150 ecoboost screw.4x4.

Installed at a performance shop, MotoFab 2.5" front level kit. Had wheel alignment done etc.

Then installed 305/65/18 BFG all terrain T/A tire, love it all, BUT...

As soon as I left the shop, I noticed slight "clunking" as I went over bumps, figured maybe it was simply part of doing a lvl kit and mentioned it to the shop, and they explain a lvl kit is basically just a bunch of BS and a cheap way to lift a truck , yes correct.

Now two weeks later I try and engage my 4x4 and it clicks and binds etc. I can't use it, it doesn't engage!!

At this point, unless someone offers a new solution, I'm booked for Monday to have the lvl kit removed, which I'll have to pay for again, a wheel alignment done and the. Downsize my tires to 275/70/18 on my stock XLT rims.

Then Tuesday it's booked at ford to have 4x4 looked at.

-----

Why am I the only guy with front end issues after installing a 2.5" lvl kit? Could the shop have screwed up? Why would it be binding while many other ppl have no reported issues?

probably install gone bad, 2" seems to be the best for less troubles. i know plenty will chime in saying they have no trouble but others have, just saying. preloading the front coils add heavy tires and no offset is causing the clunk. some installers have damaged the vaccum accuators from fully engaging. there must be something to be said about AutoSpring 2" and 2.5" leveling kit having an offset to keep the coil spring from hitting the upper control arm. stealership may see the evidence of a leveling kit installed and deny your warranty. bilstein 5100s or Rancho quick lifts are a better alternative to me. good luck with whatever you do, hope it works out.

I never got around to installing mine but from what I've read over 2" level people run into that exact issue. Mine is 2". Eventually I will install of I keep this truck. I actually bought it for my other one but didn't need it for my 33's. On the newer ones I read you have to disconnect the electronic steering before you install or it runs into problems too. I don't remember what happens if you forget that step. Maybe make sure they did that. Not sure

The shop where I bought my tires said they would swap to smaller size tire no biggies. Hoping they take them back free and only charge the install and balance. The 305's are worth $80 more per tire than the 275's.

Then I have to pay to remove lvl kit and a new alignment. To talking around $300. At the cost of $300 I then assume I haven't voided my warranty for my 4x4.

I'm an idiot.

Nah, not an idiot. I don't know much about it but from what I have read on this forum it sounds like the clunking is because something wasn't done right by the shop in the first place. Could be wrong, won't be the first time.
Seems like $300 is pretty steep.

No clunking is allowed or supposed to happen! Our Adjustable Coilovers should solve your problems, if nothing else is wrong, and they are installed correctly, you can keep the bigger tires you have, but you will need an alignment. Before buying anything else make sure nothing is loose! The MFab spacers/level kits have bolts that screw in from the bottom of the spacers...So as you tighten the 15mm nut on top it is possible that you are backing out or loosening the bolt, not the best in design. This is why ours have screw-in studs, everything gets tighter as the nut is tightened. Not saying that this is the problem...it is just a possibility. Just trying to help.

You are not an idiot. Not too many people like the nose of their truck on the ground. Really sounds like an install issue. If everything is tight, there really is nothing that can clunk.

Go over the top 3 bolts of the strut and the one on the LCA again. They may have nottightened them back down again once on the ground. Swaybar as well.
