Default 14 Ecoboost oil change

Ok ive read a few post about changing your own oil adventures on the ecoboost. Ive always laughed it cant be that bad! Ok I was wrong. What a PIA! I think i got more oil on me and the floor than in the pan!

Can someone explain to me the shield with the square rubber parts and how thats supposed to drain oil. It didnt drain out the funnel in the front of the truck it drained out of the back square hole. Really Ford is that the best design you could come up with?

I have been told if you drive the truck up on ramps the oil drains much better.

I installed a Fumoto valve on mine, that should make the next oil change much easier.

Default Gladly

I paid 60.00 bucks today for the blend oil change. I will gladly pay that every 6,000 miles to not have to deal with it!

I figured I would change my own oil every other change. The ones I dont I will take it to the dealership and get "the works" done. That way my truck gets its tires rotated.

yeah it sucks without some experience. 1 - put it up on ramps. 2 - you need that valve otherwise oil can indeed get everywhere. I just put mine on after I was reminded how it gets everywhere. 3 - if on flat surface the filter drains out the front, if on ramps it drains out the rear square. note that even with the new filter in the lil catch pan that directs the oil to a square will still drip for a bit so be aware of that and give ample time.

Aside from that its not bad once you learn the quirks.

I take the skid plate off to change the oil and wipe everything up, no dealer or oil shop will ever do that.
