Hooked up the laptop and connected it to the port under my dash...leave truck in run position, let laptop connect to truck then go into the options on the laptop under exterior. There is a DRL tab and enable it. It will flash the computer then you are all set. The DRL come on when taken out of park and are bright amber like the newer toyotas on the road. They can also turn on police mode which is where all the interior and exterior courtesy lights are turned off.

Is there an actual procedure for this? As I posted my experiance in THIS POST, my local dealer tried to enable DRL on my 13' w/HID and was unable as they didn't have a procedure and got stuck (apparently) in the wrong menu area (body control module). They then engaged Ford dealer support who refused to provide any procedure.

Sitting in my truck right now and just turned them on, my truck came with halogen but I converted to HID makes no difference, I also noticed some other features as well like having tail lamps on and such.
Took me about 2 mins to access the proper area. Ya'll come on down and I'll hook ya up, forum discount $25
I understand some dealers are doing it for free but I gotta pay for this IDS and I'm not rich like they are.
For those too far away and need the dealer where they are to do it, it's very simple, tell them to connect the laptop up and let it do it's thing identifying the vehicle then tell them to go to the tool box tab, once there tell them to go into module programming, programmable parameters, exterior lighting, the next screen is where the options are listed for DTRL.
The reason for a lot of the confusion is because Ford put the screws to the tech's with service labor time standards for warranty work.
They have a super tech that can work on these vehicles in some lab with new vehicles, all tools laid out for a specific job and say 1 hr. When in reality the tech's in the field have no way of knowing ahead of time exactly what tools to lay out at arms length nor do they have a brand new vehicle with no crud to dig thru to get bolts and what not and takes most if not all tech's 3hr's to do the same job, Ford only pays 1 so we all bolted for a job that we can feed our families with.
The one job I remember in particular that ripped my bacon was a wire harness in a 2000 Lincoln Towncar, literally had to gut the car bumper to bumper, all 4 doors panels, head liner, seats, carpet etc just to get to the harness, when all was said and done Ford paid me 8hrs under warranty, that job took me 3 solid days (24hrs) and I wasn't dragging my *** either, so you Ford and took my knowledge where it pays a living wage.

That's why there are hardly any tech's at the dealer that are worth a damn, the dealers are staffed with idiots and kids barely out of high school which is by the way another reason I bought the diag computer the dealers use so I know it'll get fixed right. If you find a dealer with a competent tech, stick to them like glue.
The dealers down here charge $90 to perform these type of programming operations and I only charge $75. But as I said above, forum discount $25.
Good excuse to plan your vacation in one of the best tourist cities in the south. Mardi Gras is right around the corner as well.
