Default 13 5.0 Engine Change

Little bit of a technical question for you guys. Does anybody know the difference from the 5.0 produced up to 03/13 and after 04/13 there’s a changeover and I’m looking for a motor for my 07/13. I got a little bit of info from a guy about maybe the wiring connector being different for some solenoid, but not really sure if I would be able to use a motor from an earlier truck in mine. I have found one with build 02/12 for a lot cheaper than I have found any other engines, and he is local. I would have no issue cutting a connector and soldering the one off of the other if thats all it will take.

find out anything about this yet? As for a '12 engine, I would be leary due to the issues so many people talk about of oblong cylinders

I got some help from one of my instagram followers that is a ford tech here is what he said. "I posted on our tech forums on FB. The only thing that should be different is the connectors for the vcts. The intake may look different but are interchangeable. Somewhere along the line the went from a 4 rib SERP belt to a 6 rib, if that's the case then you would just need to swap the front cover. They only changed the cam profile in the mustangs. the physical long block will work. Oh and if you blew yours up. If there's any chance that you got debris in your intake get a new one."

I purchased the motor out of the '12. I heard it run before I purchased it. None of the dreaded knock. I am pulling the motor tomorrow evening and will see if I have time to get the new one in Sunday. Will update with progress. Also comparing the solenoid connectors they look identical.

Keep us posted with progress.

I've been wondering if a '15+ will work in a '11-14. I know the vct function is different due to the mid lock setup on the newer model and also the oil filter mount pad. But it sure would be nice to be able to use the newer heads / cams... I guess the phaser delete is an option to cure the vct differences but picking a degree to stay with 100% of the time may be a touch decision
