Default '12 5.0 trailer lighting issue

I have a 2012 5.0 4x4 it did not come with any type of tow package other than the 4 pin connector. I have hooked up to a few different trailers, one with new wiring, but always have the same issue. I towed on the bumper before I put the hitch on and it made no difference if that matters. Running lights only work when they feel like it and the brake and turns have never worked. Yes I have checked the fuses. Not sure what else to do. Thanks in advance.

Dunno what to say man. It's really only four wires. Trace them up to the main harness. Drop the spare tire out of the way so you can see better. Is the plug just corroded? If it is I'd nip that off, check for power behind it, and if you have power on all three lines, solder a New plug on for $7 and be done.

I was assuming you have a Factory installed plug on there, but if you don't, maybe somebody just hacked one in to the main harness and you'll need to start over.

It looks like the previous owner spliced the plug into the old 4 pin harness possibly

Check your ground, then start tracing with a 12 tester. It's not hard.

Yeah if the prev owner did it, then check the connections. They may just be twisted together.

So I was able to do some testing today running lights have power but nothing to the turn signals. So do I start with a new own style plug?

I would probably start over with a direct fit light kit.
