Two straps per bike from the stem to the bed tie downs. Works pretty well and keeps 'em from banging around.

Haha. I actually most likely will get a peragon. I hate my solid fold. Just an absolute horrible cover.
But back on topic, this is my new ride. Got it 3 weeks ago. It's a 2011 norco range 3. I've added a chromag seat, v sixty pedals, azonic stem, specialized lock on grips and I'm getting an x fusion hydraulic seat post on wed.

I ride a road bike and just can't see myself hanging my $5000 carbon fiber bike off the back of my truck. I bought a bed rug and a Extang cover so I can lay the bike down in the bed and keep it locked and out of sight. I ride a lot of organized century rides around the midwest and want to feel comfortable walking away for the truck and bike and know the bike won't be taken.
Nice mountain bike though.

Mother of god those carbon frames are light. I held one yesterday at the bike store. $3500 specialized frame. Now I know how you guys are able to ride 20 miles up a mountain. My bike on the other hand is a tank on pavement. I really want a trek dual sport for road and light trails.
I went from a steel frame to a carbon fiber and picked up an instant 3 mph on my average time. That was five years ago. Now its lights out. That bike (Trek, 6 series Madonne, 17lbs) flat out flys. And the new models are light years ahead of my five year old bike. Riding it is like a drug. I keep wanting to go faster and farther.

That's awesome. For me its all about trail riding. I like to climb a mountain then take a technical descend. Sometimes I will take my girlfriend's 29er for a spin, makes me want a road bike. I just don't like riding in traffic though. That's what I like about mountain biking. I'm in a beautiful landscape away from the city.

Picture is not with my F150 (was an 07 sport track), but I still use the same rack.
I used to have the track style like in the first post, but I didn't like the way I couldn't open the tailgate when I had the bikes loaded. Now this is what I use. It is frame attached, which can be a pain at times with full suspension, but I've never found a bike that I couldn't load onto it. I have a full suspension, a fold up "paratrooper" single beam bike, and a hybrid that all fit fine. I like the way it is somewhat compact when folded up, I can see the connection points while driving so I know they aren't coming off, and of course it can be folded down and tailgate opened while all 4 bikes are loaded.
Putting bikes into the bed can suck if there is more than one, or you have a cover making it hard to fit handlebars underneath, and as said previously they are worth too much to just lay on their sides like that. Also many times I am camping so I use the bed for camping gear instead.
