So the "400 A" breaker ($12 on Amazon) tripped about 75A. The second time it tripped it would not reset. So I now have a Blue Sea 200 A breaker that cost a lot more but should actually work.
I am using a breaker so I can turn the power to the winch off in case of a relay failure. ie run away winch.

The winch normally rides in the bed of the truck, in a custom rack I made so that 1- the winch, even though it is weatherproof, doesn't age while it doesn't get used. And 2- so it is not a temptation for creepy thieves that might want it more than I do.
Buy the best and cry once is a good motto to live by. I get all my electrical stuff from www.powerwerx.com Best quality stuff, and a little cheaper than brick-n-mortars - which, ones that actually carry stuff like this are getting harder and harder to find anymore.
