I've used a Pull Pal many times and it is a fantastic tool. Went to an off road driving school in Australia for work and they introduced me to a couple of very useful tools. First was air down caps. Amazing just how much airing down will get you out of. Second was exhaust powered lift bags.
One thing about the Pull Pal. It doesn't work anywhere the ground is fully saturated. We were high in the mountains in Idaho one June and lost the main road at a fork due to snow. Had to turn around and had no convenient places to hook up to, so set the Pull Pall with some extension straps back on and across the forest service road. The Pull Pall dug in full depth (more than 24") and dug a full trench across the road before catching on some buried rocks. I imagine some jail time would have been in order had we been caught. Fortunately we were the only ones dumb enough to be that high up.
