Default Water crossing depth question

So with this big rain storm we are getting today, there are a lot of pictures and videos of people driving through flooded roads (I know, bad idea).

So here's the question. How deep would you cross (assuming standing water, not flowing)? (FWIW, the end of the road I work on is a pond right now. My boss went through it in his F250 and it was a couple inches up from the bottom of his rear bumper so at least 2ft deep).

Really depends on how high the truck sits, as a general rule I won't go thru water that's above the bottom of the door sill but I also have a 4" lift kit so that would be not quite 2'. I usually open the door and slowly go thru, soon as the water reaches the door sill I'm turning around.

Center of the wheels is as deep as I go. If its a emergency I would go to the bottom of the cab.

No matter how deep you go make sure you aren't pushing water higher than your air intake. A lot of cars hydro lock their engines because they don't realize the air intake comes out the side of the fender well towards the bottom

Agreed, especially at that speed. Best to back through it if you just have to do it. Actually best to avoid it.

x2 at Bottom of doors. Have I been way deeper? Yes. Was it smart? No, not at all...
Been up there with the headlights a few times for a split second... My old 460 truck had water up at the mirrors and I was close to floating in the cab, but it just keep trugging along.
