Default Lower gear for 2wd offroad?

Hey yall, i have a quick question about my truck. when im going offroad (small amounts of mud, not 1ft deep mud, and snow), would it be better to put my truck in a lower gear? like instead of Drive, put it in 2 or 1? thanks

It is always a good idea cuz then u keep a constant power to the wheels. Just watch what u go threw with 2wd it's a lot Easyer to get stuck now if u r hauling *** to get threw them I'd say just put it in gear and go!!!!!

I lock it in the proper gear for the speed being traveled. Will help keep the tranny from overheating.
