Default Leveling Kit for 2005 F150 Lariat

My son got a 2005 F150 Lariat for this 16th birthday a few months ago. Its black with the tan trim on the bottom. Extended cab with swing doors, not the true full 4 door. And its 2wd.

He is wanting a leveling kit and some bigger tires. Thinking 285/65/18. Can someone please tell me what size leveling kit we would need to make it level, no more rake?

Right now it sits with a rake, but overall its pretty low. I am thinking maybe 2.5" in the front and 1" or 2" in the back? but not sure what would be needed for it to sit level.

If you install a 2.5" level in the front .. it will sit level.. if you add blocks to the rear you will get the rake back. Best to measure the front and rear with the truck on level ground and see how much the front sits lower than the rear.. with an 05 the struts and coil springs may be weak from wear.

so what does it mean they may be weak? what would you suggest? we dont want to spend the money on a real true lift kit, so we were just thinking a leveling kit

coil springs in the front will wear out over time and cause the front end of the truck to sag.. not saying his is but, that needs to be taking into consideration when installing a level for proper size. measure .. and post the mileage on his 05.. that always helps us.

I see. are there (cheaper) options for raised coil springs for his truck?

You'd be better off just giving us your max budget

i really didnt plan to spend much honestly. I have seen leveling kits on ebay for around $100-$150 and thats what i initially thought I would be paying (also the price of new tires). But if you are suggesting a leveling kit may not go well with worn out struts. I am wondering if there are lifted strut options that would be better than a leveling kit (somewhere in the same ballpark price). I do not want to spend hundreds or thousands. Again, he has just turned 16 and drives less than 10 miles a day. Its mainly just for looks more than anything.

You definitely don't want to go cheap when it comes to suspension

for example, what about something similar to this? but for extended cab, not crew cab.
