One last key weight saving feature found under the 2015 Ford F150 is the revised 8.8” rear differential, which has been beefed up inside to allow for much heavier towing loads. This allows Ford to use this smaller 8.8” differential rather than the 9.75” unit, shaving 35lbs from the 2015 F150. - See more at: http://www.torquenews.com/106/ford-b....682fWq0e.dpuf

I just found this on Torquenews.com

So I guess Ford also change the cover to 12 Bolts?
While checking Fordparts.com the 2016 8.8 and 9.5 use the same cover a 12 bolt but different housings
