Default Bilstein 5100's on rear okay with lift block?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows factually or from experience. I'm looking at putting Bilstein 5100's on the rear of my truck, but I *may* want to put 3" lift blocks (for 1.5" of lift above stock FX4) in the rear. Are the 5100's long enough to accept another inch and a half of down travel?

Thanks,

Z

They're long enough if you buy the ones made for the extra lift height .

I just put 5100's on my '13 and the rears were plenty long to have accommodated another 1.5"
That being said, I wouldn't put a 3" level on the truck. It's too hard on the front end. The CV's and ball joints die prematurely. 2" is all I'd go with a level. If you want more, get a 4" lift.

PerryB He would only be putting a 1.5” lift in the rear. Removing stock block and adding the taller block in the rear.

1.5” to 2” front lift is highest I would recommend in front using new coilovers. If you do that your front and rear will be lifted the same and you keep the rake.

i would add the leaf if I was you original poster. Also helps relieve squatting under load. Blocks won’t do that.

Pretty sure a 3" block with Bilsteins has been done many many times. For those who still want a little rake.

I believe the 5100's are rated for up to +1". The stock blocks in my FX4 were 1.25" and I replaced them with 2.5" for a lift of 1.25". If the 5100's aren't happy, I can't tell. All seems OK.

Sounds good. I was thinking of maybe a 2.5" block to be safe. If the shocks are working fine and not over extending, then all is good.

Ok, installed the front Bilsteins at 2.1 setting and the truck still a good 3/4 inch of rake on the back, so my thoughts are don't bother with a rear block. I appreciate all the feedback
