6" Lifts
I want to upgrade from a leveling kit to a 6" suspension lift. After looking online I'm confused. Whats the difference between Pro Comp, BDS, Rough Country, Fab Tech etc etc? Of course I noticed $$$ is a difference, but I mean what is BEST as far as quality and Ride Quality? I dont know if its just me, but the BDS trucks look SWEET! When I look up the BDS 6" lifts there is like 5 to choose from. Anyone know what BDS would be just right? I really wouldnt be doing much off roading and really just like the 6" stance.
if your just looking for the look then the procomp stage 1 is going to be the cheapest and it will give you the height you want. that what i have on my truck. the bds kits are awesome too. they are just a bit more then a procomp and i think you get more quality parts.
Rough Country is cheapest in price. After much debate, I decided to buy one and after seeing Pro Comp, the Rough Country is built better IMHO. They are not the Rough Country of old - dont be fooled by their past - they have reallly cleaned up their act. Even the 2.2 shocks do just fine. I have E grade tires which with 60psi make the ride a bit rougher than stock, which I like, but I recommend them. I got my 6" kit for $1300 I think they retail for $1399. The Pro Comp equivalant was about 200 bucks more.
If you want the BEST though, I would go with Skyjacker. They are a little more expensive - the only reason I didnt go with them is because they required a 20" rim and I wanted to use 18s. Let me know if you have any other questions, I just went through all of this myself a few months ago. What year is your truck?

Rough Country is the cheapest as 09dreamer said. I had the RC 6" on my 04 screw fx4 and i loved it..... somebody posted a thread about a lift other day and it ended up bein a pro comp and it looked cheap....... id say go with the RC lift
Yes, I think I saw that post. The drop brackets on the RC lifts are significantly more substantial and even the rear blocks are better than all others - its a longer "anti-wrap" block which has 4 U bolts each instead of the usual 2. Its a great system.
Thanks for all the info! My truck is a 06 FX4 S-Crew. I only mentioned the BDS because I saw a truck like mine with one the other day. It had 6'' lift 20" wheels and Toyo MT 35's and man it looked MEAN!! I guess another thing Im wondering is, do differenct brand lifts make our trucks stand different? Will the wheels stick out more from one lift to another? Also, what type of shocks are best for a SMOOTH ride?

O ya one more thing. What is the difference between:
1. 6" IFS w/Strut Spacers Block & Add a Leaf
2. 6" IFS w/Strut Spacers Leaf Spring
3. 6" IFS w/Strut Block & Add a Leaf
4. 6" IFS w/Strut Leaf Spring
These are the options BDS offers, kind of confusing???? I do know #1 is CHEAPEST and #4 is the most EXPENSIVE.

the wheels are gonna stick out the same, all a lift kit does it drop all the suspension components straight down 6".....
the regualr shocks that come with a RC lift rode smooth to me..... but if your real picky id say u better get a cadillac if u want a real smooth ride
I like RC.Just cant use Your stock wheels with the RC lift.Overall tho,the new RC makes quality lifts by what i have seen out in the mud at the pipline.
