Default What is the difference of tire "class"

This may be a dumb question but everyone seems very knowledgable on here. What is the difference between a "D" tire and "E" tire? I'm not towing anything crazy heavy. Maybe a few quads (Sport quads probably weighing around high 2 low 3 hundred lbs) on a snowmobile type trailer or my quad in the back. Moderate off-roading, seasonal roads (two-tracks), dunes (to venture around but mostly use the quad for that) but I would say the majority is on road. I've had Toyo Open Countrys on my 04 Explorer and BF Goodrich All Terrains on my 97 Explorer. Liked both but the BFG's seem to wear better. Maybe a little harder tire? Any insight would be awesome. Thank you in advance!

it goes for load range. like most light truck tires are load range c and it just has to do with the weight you can load the tires. most load range E tires are 10 ply which means u can hold a lot more weight.
thats just the basics hope it helps. you would probobley be find with any time man

Stick with a load range D. The Es aren't much differant and if you run them at similar pressure they will ride very similar to the Ds, but they cost a bit more and will be a bit rougher of a ride. The Ds will haul as much and more then you plan to and what the truck is rated for.

No reason you can't run Es but no need either. If for some reason you choose E then run them at the same pressure you run your current tires.(35-45psi)
