Default Tpms compatibility

Question going to purchase fx2 wheels and tires (takeoffs) for my 2012 xlt they will come with tpms sensors will the truck accept these new sensors?? Will the computer learn the new pressures?? Or will I have to take old sensors from wheels and transfer?? And is it critical the position of each tire do they need to go on the way they came off the previous truck? Thanks

Generally speaking, you will want to keep the tire rotation in the same order. As for the TPMS, so long as they're off another Ford, should be fine. I have yet to have to re-learn my tpms from summer to winter tires/wheels.

*** remember, TPMS sensors do have a shelf life. My rule of thumb is whenever I replace old tires, I also replace TPMS sensors. You may be wise (as its 2012) to purchase new set and install them.

As much as they cost (~$60 ea) I recommend waiting until they go bad. Life span is 5-7 years on average.

Any decent tire shop is going to charge at least 25-30 bucks to take the wheel off, break the bead, remove and install the new tpms sensor, fill with air and re-balance the tire. (my guess is more but hey, I'm optimistic)

I average about 5 years between tire replacements.

I buy my tpms from this place http://www.oewheelsllc.com/TPMS-Sensors_5#.VK2FK2d0zGg

$120 for a set of four. I'm sure there's many other places that sell them, ebay etc. but I've gotten good service from these folks so I stay with it.

So I guess my point is to install tpms sensors, already 3 years old, to me isn't worth the hassle of then having to replace them when they start to go...potentially 2-3 years or sooner...or later. Just my opinion.

You should not have to do anything as long as the tires and wheels you purchase are from a 09+ FX2
