Default Tire size help

I need some help with what all the numbers on the tires mean? Right now on my stock rims at stock height I have 265/70R17 and was wondering the exact size of them? And I was also wondering what size a 285/75R17 would be and if they would fit on my stock rims at stock height?

265/285 is the metric width-65/70 is percent high as wide. 17/18 is the inch of your wheel diameter.

So... does anyone happen to know if I could fit 285/75 on my stock rims??
