Question Right offset...

So I'm looking for new wheels when the tires I have meet their demise. I'm trying to figure out how offset and width of factory tires compare to aftermarket because I want the new ones to be close to the edge of the fender.
Factory - width = 8.5, offset = 44. I need them to come out about 1 3/8" to get them where I want.
Aftermarket - width = 9, what would offset need to be to bring them out?
I think on an 8.5 if I changed the offset to around 10 they would be in the right place. So would the 9" wheel be around 18?

Does this make any sense?
I thought there was a sticky on this but I guess not.
Thanks in advance!

9" wheel with a 15mm would stick out 35mm (1 3/8") more than a 8.5"/44mm wheel.
