Default Question about offset tires

I have a question about offset tires and wheels. I'm looking to eventually have rims that "stick out" from the truck. I have a picture that I'll attach to show what I'm looking for. But I'm confused about the positive and negative part. Any help is greatly appreciated. Was wondering if people had pictures of what each would look like. Thanks!

Positive offset are tucked more under the fenders. negative offset stick further out.

If you want them stick out go with something like a -12 or a -24, something with a negative offset. But just keep in mind you run the risk of having to trim plastic or even metal to make them fit.
