Hypertech speedometer calibrator
Does anyone know if the speedometer and MPG readout display on the instrument panel information center are electronically tied together?
I read reviews on the Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator and am wondering if I purchase one and recalculate the speedo will it correlate to the MPG readout and correct it also? Seems like a logical electronic connection between the two. Anyone use the Hypertech before?
The reason being is that I just replaced a few days ago my stock 265/70R 18 tires and installed new 285/75R 18 Toyo tires on my 2013 XLT crew cab 4x4 and the speedometer is off by about 6 MPH AND the MPG readout on the instrument display screen went from about 18-19 MPG city to 14-15 MPG!! I know that taller and heavier tires will cause more effort on the engine, therefore more gas consumption, but the MPG drop per the information screen on the instrument panel was not good to look at - if it is correct. I am going to swap the 285/75's for 295/70's this Saturday to reduce the height a little and increase the width by a little but I am sure I will have the same problem since I am still increasing the size over the OEM tires. (The tire shop has a 30 day return / exchange / refund policy).
Thanks!!
