Default Help with TPMS question

Hi all,

My apologies in advance since I am new to the truck game. I recently bought a 2010 f150 screw XLT with stock 17inch chrome wheels. I want to buy the 20 inch FX4 wheels off someone local but they are selling them without TPMS sensors. Is it possible to use the sensors in my stock wheels or will I need to buy new sensors? If so how do I know which sensors I need that are compatible with my year f150. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes you can use the sensors currently in your wheels. The sensors are attached to your valve stem. The shop will unscrew the sensor from your old valve and screw it on a new valve in your new wheel.

315MHz is the spec and you would be better off buying new ones because your originals are just about out of battery life, they claim 7 yrs but I wouldn't push it with an already 5 y/o sensor/battery.

Spend a little more now or spend a lot more later.
