Default Downsizing rim size and maximum tire size

I have just recently purchased a 2010 STX 4wd scab. I have a few questions about it as well that I'm hoping someone could help me out with.

1. Currently it has a 3" body lift on it and the previous owner fitted it with hideous 22" rims wrapped in 305x45R22 tires. I was trying to figure out what size tire it would be possible to fit underneath, being it seems to have a lot of extra room inside the wheel well.

2. The stock rim size is 18" and I was hoping it would be possible to fit 17" rims instead without having an issue with the brakes.

Any answers will be much appreciated, thanks.

Yes you can fit 17s

With a 3" BL you should be able to fit 35s if your 4x4. Idk about 2wd.

With the body lift a 35x12.5x17 ought to fit on some 17x9 wheels.
