Default Custom Wheel fitting

Not a tire guy so figured I would get some opinions from those who know. I have a 05 f-150 lariat with a 2.5 leveling kit. Custom wheels and tires were put on by the previous owner. They are 33x12.50R18 but unsure of the offest of the rims but the tires stick out 1.5-2" from the fender so I am assuming fairly low. This leads me to my question. I am wanting to put on 295/70R17 ridge nitto grapplers and new rims with an offset around +12 to suck the tires in a bit. Would that work for my truck? TIA

Are you 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive? A 295/70 is a 33.5x11.5 (roughly), so you should be just fine on 4 wheel drive, and I believe 2wd will clear, but it's been a while since I did fitment on an 04-08 truck.

4WD. Figuring the +12mm offset will make them stick out about 1" or so from the fender? I also want to make sure I don't have a big gap from the top of the wheel to the wheel well.

You'll definitely clear, and the gap won't be different than it is now. The 295/70R17 is about 33.5" tall and your current setup is 33" tall.

Good to hear! Thank you. Do I need to worry about anything else on the rims? just a 17x9 with a +12mm offset when I order them?

Shouldn't need anything else. You should be good to go. I put 35x12.5's on stock 20x8.5"+44 wheels on 1.5" spacers which made it to be a 20x8.5+6mm wheel. Shouldn't have any problem at all clearing a 295/70r17.
