Default Another tire question...

I've been reading all I can about on tire sizes in the forum, but I cannot seem to find an answer to this particular tire size.

I am installing a HBS 2" level on my 2012 FX4, and attempting to upgrade the tires. The guy at the tire shop claims the Nitto Terra Grappler LT (119) 325/60/R18 (32.99 tall & 12.83 wide) will fit without rubbing or trimming after the level is installed. I do not tow or pull heavy loads. I am mostly concerned with width of the tire and loss of MPG's.

Is anyone running a setup close to this, or can any offer feedback?

2012 FX4 5.0
2" HBS Level Kit
Stock 18" FX4 wheels
3.73 gear

go with 285-70-18 that way you fill the fender well and also don't have all the drag of the wide tires

Nitto is not showing an LT 285/70R18 as an option, the tire I really wanted is an LT 295/70R18 (34.41 tall and 11.77 wide), but they only have 2 in stock and they are uncertain as to when they can get them (and yes I have to stick with this tire store, because they put the wrong tire on last week, I ordered the Terra Grappler and they installed the Trail Grappler - it was closing tme and they said if I don't like them they would switch them out within 30 days for the Terra Grappler). I do way too much highway driving to have a M/T tire...

The 325's may not rub but you won't like the mpg's they will give you. Even the 295's will hurt you some. I would hold them to it. They can always get tires from another store. Its their fault, not yours.

That being said, have you looked at another brand of tire that offers that size?

So... I've done even more research, but I have changed my focus. I spent lots of time looking at relevant tire sizes vs. rubbing, and neglected wheel sizing--it was almost overload on backspacing, offset and approved rim sizes. I have finally come to discover my stock wheels are 18x7.5. Most of the tires I like are 18x9 and 18x8. From what I have seen, I would likely be okay with an 18x8 tire, but anything more is a bad idea.

GY SilentArmor is too close to stock sizing, most of the BFG T/A KO’s are not approved for 7.5 rim.

I am now thinking the Nitto Terra Grappler 295/70R18 (¾” wider than stock tire, 2" taller to fill wheel well, semi-aggressive look, decent wear and ride and is approved for 7.5 rim) is definitely the way to go--provided there is no rubbing.

Any thoughts on this tire with my mostly stock setup?

I wouldn't stick with the 315's as that is a pretty wide tire... i had a 315/70/17 on my 2004 heritage with 7.5" lift and 4.10 gears and it was a bit "luggy" , however i dropped it down to a 305/70/16 and a huge difference that made... so since its only a 2" lift i personally wouldn't go with a 315 but a 285 would suit you well, however an 18x7.5 will be hard to find in any tire

I am having trouble finding the right LT truck tire for my 2011
F-150 Super Crew 4x2 with 18 inch factory chrome wheels. I went to a dealer this week and was told that I would have to lift the front end by 2 inches but I think he was trying to put very agressive off road tires on. Other tire dealers have told me that they would have to mount a new tire and install it to see if it will clear. I am looking to put BFG All Terain tires to prevent sidewall puncture when using off road. My OEM tires are P265 60 R18.
Any suggestions?
