33's or 35's????

Default 33's or 35's????

So I'm sure this has been brought up on here before, I have been running 33's on my 2004 crew that has a 2" leveling kit and a 3" PA body lift. I know I can fit 35's easily, just wondering everyones opinion on the small advantage versus the many disadvantages. I feel the 33's look proportionate to the amount of lift and the 35's will look better but wondering if the loss of MPG, performance, breaking distance and cost of the 35's is worth the little bit of size differance? Here are some pictures of it sitting on the 33's...







And then user IDNC76's exact truck before he had the 6" suspension and 38's (hopfully he doesnt mind me posting pictures of his truck to use as a referance), so leveling and body lift with 35's (what mine would look like with 35's)...

Simply put, it comes down to preference. You've already listed pro's and con's, so you've obviously been thinking about it.

I personally don't feel that yours looks balanced at present, but I've got the upgraders-itch going on right now so i'm biased.

Ultimately, unless you're having trouble getting out to your hunting spots, you know deep down inside that you're upgrading based on the looks of it. The 35's will offer you a bit more real world ground clearance, but you'll have to enjoy all the negatives that go with it.

On a side note, it looks like you're rolling on 20" Rims, and a quick look at Toyo's website indicates the following stats:

33X12.50R20LT -- overall width at 12.6 -- weight 71.7
35X12.50R20LT -- overall width at 13.0 -- weight 80.5

The surface area on the ground is where you are going to lose the most insofar as performance. And while I wouldn't say .4 is negligible, i'd say its a trade off I'd make. And of course, lets not forget that its unlikely either tire would actually measure up to the advertised sizes.

Thank you for the very detailed response! Yes I would like to do the 35's and agree that it would help the "proportionate" look better, but after researching more now the cons are heavily outweighing the pros. I started researching about the strain of 35's on the diff and tranny gears and I know regearing is not needed but recommended for the long run, I'd rather not have issues down the road and definitely don’t want to dump another grand plus to regear the front and rear diff. I have a friend that has the same truck and has a 6" suspension lift with 35's and the stock 3.73 gears and he said he can feel how ****ty it feels on the tyranny.

Yep, some definite negatives to go with it. Another option to consider would be to go larger with an aggressive A/T like a Duratrac. The LT325/60R20 Duratrac's are E rated, and weigh in at 67lbs - lighter then your 33 Toyo M/T's. And the 325/60R20 roughly translates to 35.4x12.8R20. Tread width is also 11". One could make an arguement that you'd see an improvement with them over your current setup.

I will look into those, I have looked at the pics of IDNC76's truck more and really want 35's...haha, so I think I am going to spend the extra money and regear my truck and do the 35's!
