Default 22's SON

I'm looking into some 22's for my '11 SCrew. I want to stay as close to the stock diameter as I can. Looks like a 285/35R22 or 265/40R22 would be my closest tire options.

I've read that the 40 series tire can maintain a mostly stock ride. Is the 35 series going to be that much different? Is 3.92in of sidewall going to be considerably different than the 4.17in of sidewall I'd have with the 40 series tire?

Why is that? I remember when I was just out of school and working in a tire shop and anything under a 50 series was so stiff sidewalled that it would hurt comfort. I figured 10 years technology would of advanced enough to compensate for that.
