Question What Audio System, 2018?

Hello,

How do you tell what kind of Audio system you have? I have a 2018 XLT 302a pkg. Can't seem to find anything through searching.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's not B&O as I don't see any badging to indicate that it is.

thanks!

You have the basic factory radio, there is no amplifier, it powers the 7 speakers from the Headunit. The B&O System is only available on the Lariat or higher trim packages.

So is it the same as the Sony everyone keeps referring to on previous years (2017), or was the Sony the premium stereo on previous years and replaced by B&O in 2018?

I went to a local audio shop to ask about getting a system in my 2018 which is still being built, and they kept asking if it was the Sony system. I haven't been able to find anything about Sony on the new 2018. I have same setup as OP.

Sony was the upgraded system from 2017 and older. in 2018 they changed the premium to B&O which GP-SE already stated. Crazy how most stereo shops have no clue.

Thanks that's what I thought. The shop said they haven't done an 18 f150 yet so they weren't sure. Glad I have the most basic factory stereo, probably be easier to replace.

4" you can replace with an aftermarket radio. 8" with sync you can't or should I say it's recommended not to. To add an amp or sub you have to use some type of line out converter product such as audiocontrol or pac products.

Oh right, yeah that is fine I suppose. I am sure that I will be less than satisfied with the stock sound, unfortunately.

You can use Forscan to disable the stock stereo equalizer and have it output a flat low level signal. I have a 2018 7 Speaker with touch screen, it's reprogrammed to output low level flat sound. I then hooked it up to an Alpine KTP-445u Amp, I had Infinity Kappa speakers and it sounded good without the factory EQ. Keep in mind you can still control the balance/fade, and bass/trebble/mid, it just gets rid of the Volume dependant EQ to protect the stock speakers.
