I think I can help you and save you some $$ as I just went through this with my 2009 F150 XLT.

I read many reviews and took their advice with some but here is the skinny. I have installed 3 different types of POLK speakers in this truck and I will install 1 more set more because I found what works the best with an AMP.

Let me 1st say I like my music very loud at times but I also want it to sound good which is why I went with POLK. I put a set of POLK MM571 in front because many said get the MM version if you can afford it. Well, that was a waste of $170. At the same time I put a set of db571 in the back and the mid bass was much better with the db version than the MM version but the MM version was brighter and I like that. I then blew 1 of the MMs in front and said screw it, let me try the 5 1/4 db5251 composite for the front and it is a night and day difference over the MM571 and the db571 with mid bass, clarity and brightness. It is so much better than my db571 in the back, which were better with mid bass than the MM571 that I will now order another set of db5251 for the rear.

To sum it up:
The MM571 is a drop in install with no mod needed. They offer 5x better clarity and brightness than stock but distort easily with mid bass. They are 2 ohm speakers, actually 2.7 ohms.

The db571 have much better mid bass than the MM571 but not the clarity of the MM version. These are 4ohm speakers, actually 4.6 ohms.

The db52521 are far superior to the MM571 and the db571 with mid bass, clarity and brightness. You will need a 5x7\6x8 adapter, got mine from Crutchfield for $15, to install these and you will need to cut a 2" hole in the door interior cover, (plastic), by the a/c vent hitting the window to mount the tweeters but it is simple if you have the tools. I cut the hole with a 1 3/4 circle bit and then used a grinding bit to make small adjustments to get to a tight 2" hole.

All are far better than stock and all need to be amped to get the best out of them. From my experience it appears that the db version offer better mid bass as they can handle louder harder bass than the MM.

All of this experience\frustration\install has taken place over the last 30 days.

BTW, I got my db5251 from Amazon for $104 to the house.

You will not find door speakers that have subwoofer quality bass because the doors just don't make good subwoofer boxes but you can get good hard mid bass from them. If you want more bass get a sub.

Lastly, make sure to use the amps active crossovers in HPF mode and take some low bass out or you will blow them real easy.

Sorry for the long winded write up and the grammatical issues with it but I am trying to write this fast as I don't have much time right now.

Good luck.

Infinity 6829CF, I noticed the doors have to much airspace for a 6x8 to get good tight mid base. These infinity's have crossover built in so you really need a sub to go with it. But much louder and cleaner than stock.

Yes, you can buy adapters (some speakers come with them) or make your own.

6.5 will not without cutting some door metal and inside cover plastic! They actually require a 6 3/4 hole. 5 1/4 do not require cutting to get the woofer installed but both require an adapter plate.
